Some try for a little creativity, when it comes to selecting a stock symbol - the wit is usually rather ponderous:

BID : Sotheby’s auction house

BTU :- Peabody Energy - for British Thermal Unit

BUD : Anheuser-Busch brews fifty types of beers and one wellknown one.

CAKE : The Cheesecake Factory managed to get in first on this one

CHIC : Charlotte Russe Holdings women’s fashion.

CLUB : Town Sports International - fitness clubs.

DNA : Genentech - biotech.

EAT : Brinker International - franchise, restaurant chains

FUN : Cedar Fair Entertainment Company- amusement parks.

GEEK : Internet America Inc. - Texas-based ISP

HOG : Harley-Davidson Inc.

LUV : Southwest Airlines - they started at Dallas Love Field.

NUT : ML Macadamia Orchards LP.

RIG : Transocean Inc, claiming to be the largest (in turnover) offshore drilling contractors in the world.

SAM : The Boston Beer Company named for Samuel Adams beer,

SEA : Star Maritime Acquisition Corp. - a company set up to acquire shipping industry assets.

TAP : Molson Coors Brewing Co.

YUM : Yum! Brands, Inc. a dodgy conglomerate, KFC, Long John Silver’s, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell

ZZ : Sealy Corporation - beds…..
